Krystallia Sakellariou is a mixed-media artist working mainly with installation, photography, film and animation. She uses assembled objects, transient and daily-life materials, personal and collected stories, photographical concepts, space, light and illusion, to develop projects about people, places, memories and fiction. In her large, site-specific installations she explores the fusion of painting, sculpture and photography into architecture, creating a series of ephemeral spatialities in which separated spaces, or universes, are poetically and temporarily connected. Her works evoke interpretations related to the passing of time, the concept of home, separation, isolation, alienation, migration, and the various shapes and paths that our longing for unreachable or inaccecible worlds - our own, personal utopias - may take.
